The Port Said Sea port lies to the northern entrance of the Suez Canal. It is considered one of the most important Egyptian ports due to its distinctive location on the entrance of the most significant waterway in the world (The Suez Canal) and in the middle of the biggest merchant shipping line between Europe and the east. It is moreover one of the biggest transit port in the world.


Principal port areas of Port Said include:
•    Port Said West Port
•    Port Said East Port
 
As part of its terminal expansion project. West Port Said container terminal has finished furnishing and upgrading its storage yard.
The yard has been equipped with six rub-ter-tyred gantry cranes, which will be followed by six more.
The total yard area of the terminal is now 572.000 sq m and the terminal has a capacity of 1.5m teu.
