Cairo airport remains the main commercial airport
 
Cairo International Airport is the international airport of Cairo and the busiest airport in Egypt and serves as the primary hub for EgyptAir, EgyptAir Express and Nile Air as well as several other airlines. The airport is located in Heliopolis, to the northeast of Cairo around 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) from the business area of the city and has an area of approximately 37 square kilometres (14 sq miles). It is the second busiest airport in Africa
   
The strategy is to develop Cairo International Airport to be a central cargo hub to Middle East & Africa. Currently cargo capacity is 400.000 tons per annum, and cargo volume is handled and stored through 6 cargo terminals. Each terminal has its own storage area, equipments and Customs.
